Engineering Ltd. was founded in 1994 by William Doug Latiff, P.Eng. and Ken Lundin, C.E.T., who combined their technical expertise and forward‑thinking vision to create a truly collaborative MEP consulting practice. Today, our team brings together professional engineers, technologists, energy analysts and project managers who share a commitment to precision, coordination, and client service.

With a strong mix of experience and innovation, we handle projects of every scale—from complex industrial facilities to modern commercial and residential developments. Latiful Kabir, P.Eng. PMP - Chief Operating Officer

Latiful Kabir, serving as the Chief Operating Officer, is a managing partner and holds the position of board president at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. With a wealth of experience exceeding twenty-five years in MEP Engineering design and field review services, Latiful is a Principal Mechanical Engineer and the lead on diverse projects. He earned an M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Ryerson University, Toronto, and garnered extensive experience in various sectors, including roles at the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, manufacturing industries in Ontario, and oil and gas industries in Alberta.

Certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute in the U.S.A., Latiful specializes in the design of MEP systems for medium to large-scale commercial and multi-family residential projects. His leadership extends to spearheading initiatives in BIM 360, A.C.C. Construction Cloud, Energy Modelling, and I.S.T.

Juan Carlos Gonzalez, P.Eng., Managing Partner

Juan Carlos Gonzalez serves as the board’s treasurer at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. With over twelve years of dedicated experience, Juan is a seasoned senior electrical designer renowned for his expertise in designing and overseeing electrification, power distribution, fire alarm systems, communication networks, emergency and standby power systems, and energy analysis. His extensive portfolio encompasses various projects, including large-scale commercial, institutional, residential, and industrial buildings.

A graduate of Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in electrical engineering, Juan’s commitment to staying at the forefront of the industry led him to acquire a Solar PV Installation and Renewable Energy certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in October 2019. His comprehensive skill set and unwavering dedication to excellence make him an indispensable part of our team at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd.

Chris Matheson, Managing Partner

Chris Matheson, a Managing Partner at our firm, is a leader in mechanical systems design and boasts over 20 years of dedicated experience in mechanical design and project management. His seasoned expertise spans engineering, ensuring a smooth design schedule and cost-effective solutions for our clients.

Chris is pivotal in orchestrating the mechanical and electrical disciplines’ schedules to align seamlessly with our client’s requirements. With an extensive track record exceeding 20 years, Chris has mastered the intricacies of HVAC and plumbing systems across diverse projects, including large commercial ventures, shopping malls, farmers’ markets, retail spaces, hotels, multifamily residential buildings, and townhomes. His rich and varied experience ensures that every project benefits from his nuanced understanding and expertise in delivering tailored, efficient solutions.

Dan Wilson, Managing Partner

Dan Wilson, a Managing Partner and the Secretary of the board, boasts a wealth of experience exceeding 15 years in the electrical industry. His expertise spans construction, project management, and design across diverse domains, including large and small-scale commercial projects, dental/medical facilities, residential complexes, mixed-use buildings, light industrial facilities, and fire alarm systems.

As a Certified Master Electrician since 2011, Dan’s credentials are complemented by a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary in 2003. His extensive background underscores his proficiency in overseeing and managing electrical projects across various sectors, ensuring seamless execution from conception to completion. Being an IST coordinator, he also performs the Integrated Commissioning of the Life Safety Items, where applicable.

Chona Rivera, BSSA., Managing Partner

Chona Rivera is one of the managing partners overseeing the Office Manager role at DBK. With over a decade of experience, she adeptly provides administrative support to the DBK team. Chona kicked off her career in 2003 at a software development company in Calgary after graduating with a Computer Secretarial Education degree from Adamson University in Manila, Philippines. Her expertise lies in efficiently managing office operations and offering valuable administrative assistance to ensure smooth workflows at DBK.

Marlon Poyaoan, Managing Partner

Marlon Poyaoan is the managing partner at DBK Engineering Ltd. and a seasoned designer and project manager with a specialization in electrical systems. His expertise includes power distribution, lighting, communication, controls, and fire alarm systems. Marlon oversees project coordination across all phases, from design development to construction, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality outcomes. He also manages BIM 360 for cloud-based Revit models, demonstrating his strong technical coordination skills.

Geoff Boissevain, Contract Admin

Geoff Boissevain is a construction administrator with decades of experience in the MEP construction industry. He is the liaison between the engineering team and the construction process, overseeing mechanical and electrical systems to ensure they meet engineering standards and project specifications. Geoff’s expertise extends to the post-construction phase, where his detailed insights and thorough reporting contribute to the successful execution and completion of projects. He also performs visual inspections of fire alarms and integrated life safety systems.

Efren Jacob, Mechanical Designer

Efren Jacob is a skilled BIM Revit Modeler and Mechanical Designer at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. An engineering graduate from Mapua University in the Philippines, Efren specializes in mechanical design for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Proficient in Revit MEP, BIM360, and AutoCAD, Efren is known for his strong communication, project management skills, and attention to detail, consistently delivering high-quality results with a positive attitude.

Abu Saikat, E.I.T.

Abu Saikat is a skilled Electrical Designer with over eight years of experience. He specializes in electrification, power distribution, fire alarm systems, communication networks, and emergency power systems. Abu has worked on various commercial, institutional, residential, and industrial projects. A graduate of the American International University of Bangladesh, he moved to Canada in 2016 and is an E.I.T. with APEGA, having successfully passed the FE exam.

Emer Mandigma, Electrical Designer

Emer Mandigma is an experienced Electrical Systems Designer at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. With a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Batangas and a Certificate in Electrical Design (CAD/CADD) from SAIT; Emer has been a key team member since 2012. Specializing in electrical design for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, he is proficient in Revit MEP, BIM360, and AutoCAD. Emer’s strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and dedication to delivering exceptional results drive client satisfaction and contribute to the company’s ongoing success.

Josefina Diaz, Electrical Designer

Josefina Diaz is an experienced Electrical Systems Designer at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd., holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Manuel L. Quezon University in the Philippines. Since joining the team in 2013, she has specialized in electrical design for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Proficient in Revit MEP, BIM360, and AutoCAD, Josefina is known for her strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and dedication to delivering high-quality solutions that consistently meet and exceed client expectations.

Jomer Estrada, Mechanical Designer

Jomer Estrada is a skilled BIM Revit Modeler and Mechanical Designer at D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. An accomplished engineering graduate, Jomer specializes in HVAC design and construction, with expertise in systems like variable volume refrigerant flow air-conditioners and water and air-cooled chillers. Known for his excellent communication, project management skills, and attention to detail, Jomer efficiently handles complex projects while consistently delivering exceptional outcomes. His dedication and positive demeanour make him a valuable asset to the team.

Tina Ngoc Ly, Energy Analyst

Tina is a key member of the D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. team, specializing in energy modelling and analysis. Proficient in CanQuest, eQuest, Therm, and Hot2000, she is also a LEED Green Associate, reflecting her commitment to sustainable engineering. Tina holds a diploma in Sustainable Energy and Building Technology from Humber College, making her expertise essential to the company’s innovative MEP design solutions.
