Business Analyst – Economics

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to market trends, client preferences, and project performance.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings and insights to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning and Decision Support:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
    • Provide analytical support and recommendations to senior leadership to facilitate informed decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvement across all aspects of the business, from project management to client engagement.
    • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and reduce operational costs.
  • Market Research and Competitive Analysis:
    • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and threats within the MEP consulting sector.
    • Monitor industry benchmarks and best practices to inform strategic positioning and differentiation strategies.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Collaborate with the business development team to gather client feedback, assess satisfaction levels, and identify areas for service enhancement.
    • Support the development of client engagement strategies and retention initiatives to foster long-term relationships and drive customer loyalty.
  • Project Management Support:
    • Assist project managers in monitoring project performance, tracking key metrics, and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Provide analytical insights and recommendations to optimize project delivery processes and mitigate risks.
  • Continuous Learning and Development:
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies through ongoing training and professional development initiatives.
    • Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the organization.

Education and Experience:

  • Education:
    • Candidates must possess a master’s degree in economics from a recognized institution.
    • The advanced knowledge and analytical skills acquired through a master’s program in Economics are essential for effectively interpreting complex economic data, conducting market analysis, and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Experiences:
    • Minimum Two Years of Experience:
      • Candidates must have at least two years of relevant work experience in a business analysis or related role.
      • Practical experience allows candidates to apply theoretical knowledge gained through academic study to real-world business challenges, ensuring the ability to generate actionable insights and drive meaningful results.
    • Experience in a Similar Role within MEP Consulting:
      • Previous experience working in a similar role within Canada’s MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) consulting industry is highly desirable.
      • Familiarity with the unique challenges, processes, particularly the current trend in net zero and ESG initiatives, and best practices within the MEP consulting sector enables candidates to quickly acclimate to the role, contribute effectively to projects, and add immediate value to the organization.
    • Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
      • Candidates should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform strategic decision-making.
      • Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative methods, and econometric modelling is highly beneficial for conducting market research, trend analysis, and forecasting.
    • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Abilities:
      • Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential for interacting with cross-functional teams, senior management, clients, and external stakeholders.
      • Candidates should be able to articulate complex economic concepts and findings clearly and concisely and collaborate effectively with colleagues to drive consensus and achieve common objectives.
    • Proficiency in Data Analysis Tools and Software:
      • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Excel, SPSS, SAS, or R, is preferred.
      • Experience with data visualization tools and business intelligence platforms is advantageous for generating actionable insights and presenting findings in a compelling manner.
    • Demonstrated Track Record of Success:
      • Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of success in previous roles, including meeting deadlines, delivering high-quality work products, and achieving measurable results.
      • Strong references and endorsements from previous employers or academic mentors may be requested to validate candidates’ qualifications and accomplishments.
