Geothermal Innovation: Ashcroft Terminal Cross-Dock Project Completed

We are proud to announce the completion of the Ashcroft Terminal Cross-Dock Facility — a milestone Geothermal Innovation project in sustainable industrial design, where D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. provided full Mechanical, Electrical, and Energy Modelling services.

Geothermal Project at Ashcroft Terminal

Located in Ashcroft, British Columbia, this 92,000+ sq ft. The facility serves as a high-throughput logistics hub for Western Canada’s only inland port with dual rail access. Our scope included the integration of a ground-source geothermal innovation system, high-efficiency HVAC design, EV-ready electrical systems, and NECB 2017 compliance modelling.

Project Highlights:

    • Geothermal System: A closed-loop vertical borehole field provides clean, renewable heating and cooling through high-efficiency water-to-air heat pumps, reducing carbon footprint and long-term operating costs.
    • Energy Savings: Designed to use 24% less energy than a standard NECB-compliant building, delivering measurable reductions in utility bills and environmental impact.
    • Smart Electrical Design: Future-ready electrical infrastructure includes EV charging capacity, dedicated battery charging zones, and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the facility.
    • Fully Compliant with NECB 2017 – Part 8: The project meets or exceeds all National Energy Code performance targets, ensuring code compliance, energy efficiency, and sustainability from day one.
    • Designed to align with PSA International’s Group 1 Sustainability Mandates

This project represents our commitment to low-carbon, high-performance design solutions tailored to large-scale industrial facilities.
