D.B.K. Engineering Ltd. designs reliable plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and multi-residential buildings across Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. Our plumbing engineering solutions focus on occupant health and safety, water efficiency, code compliance with the National Plumbing Code and provincial plumbing codes, and long-term lifecycle performance.
Domestic Water Systems
We design pressure-regulated domestic cold and hot water distribution systems from the main service connection through to every suite, office, retail space, and commercial kitchen. Our designs include hot water recirculation systems with high-efficiency water heaters to minimize wait times and energy waste, plus water-efficient fixtures that meet or exceed WaterSense certification criteria.
Sanitary & Vent Systems
DBK provides complete sanitary drainage and vent system designs for all building types and occupancies. Our scope covers soil stacks, sanitary risers, floor drains, and properly sized venting to maintain drainage seals by code. We design suite bathroom rough-ins, office washrooms, commercial kitchen drainage, and restaurant plumbing — all compliant with the National Plumbing Code and local provincial codes.
Storm Drainage
We design roof drainage systems with roof vents, leaders, and storm drain connections to sanitary or municipal storm systems as required by local municipality standards. Our designs include controlled-discharge systems where storm water management and environmental compliance regulations require flow attenuation.
Gas Piping Systems
DBK designs domestic gas piping systems from the building service entry to individual appliances and tenant connections, in full compliance with CSA B149.1 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code and local utility requirements. We size gas piping for current loads and include provisions for future tenant improvements and appliance additions.
Water Efficiency & Sustainability
We specify modern, low-flow plumbing fixtures that are durable, code-compliant, and water-efficient. Our fixture selections support LEED water efficiency credits and help reduce long-term operating costs for building owners. DBK also designs greywater reuse and rainwater harvesting systems where project requirements call for high-performance sustainability outcomes.
